Before becoming the company most growers know, Plagron started as a small worm farm back in 1992 and gradually developed the high-quality fertilizers, substrates, and additives widely available in the market today. The company focuses on providing top-quality products for cannabis seeds for growers of all levels of expertise at a very affordable price, being amongst the most popular brands in Europe. So if you’re looking into experimenting with new products in your next grow cycle, get the information you need about Plagron, fertilizers, additives, their benefits, and the best feeding chart for coco, hydro, soil, and organic growing.

1. Plagron Additives

Before talking about the base products, let’s learn more about the additives; These additives provide enzymes, carbohydrates, and other elements that make a huge difference in the yields and quality of your harvest, so despite not being obligatory, they’re highly recommended.

Plagron usage guide: additives

Enzymes and carbohydrates are essential for plant growth.

All of the following products not only provide carbohydrates and enzymes but also provide other elements that are essential for your plant's basic processes, resulting in an overall healthier plant.

Power Roots

Power roots is a root stimulator designed for the vegetative stage and a few weeks into flowering, this product is absorbed immediately, increasing plant resistance and improving root development, resulting in stronger plants within a couple of weeks of use. Enhancing root development comes with a host of benefits. First of all, this subterranean network of tissue is designed to uptake nutrients and breathe in oxygen. The larger the root system, the more capability the plant has to obtain nutrients that it needs to drive key physiological processes, including protein synthesis and growth.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
0 0 2

Larger roots also take up more water. Therefore, you need to make sure that plants situated in pots are watered regularly; those grown outdoors directly in the ground will spread their roots deep into the soil and uptake much of the water they need on their own. However, roots are more than just a one-way street. Advances in soil and plant science have revealed that plant roots form symbiotic relationships with beneficial microbes, consume entire bacterial cells, and pump exudates into the soil to orchestrate nutrient cycling within the rhizosphere (the slither of soil in close proximity to the roots themselves). By enhancing root growth and health, growers can improve the microbiome of their soil and boost nutrient cycling in a way that vastly benefits their cannabis plants.

Benefits:

  • Improves soil structure and nutrient uptake;
  • Allows plants to recover fast after transplanting;
  • Promotes root development.

Pure Zym

Pure Zym contains natural enzymes designed to improve soil by accelerating the decomposition of organic matter, causing nutrients to be readily available in the substrate and increasing oxygenation. Do you remember much about enzymes from biology class in school? These complex proteins are designed to speed up the degradation of a substrate—another compound that’s compatible with the enzyme itself. Enzymes underpin most of the degradation of organic matter in the soil without human intervention, from simple proteins and carbohydrates, all the way to tough and complex molecules such as chitin and lignin. Both bacteria and fungi in the soil play a large part in decomposition—they achieve this by pumping out a plethora of powerful enzymes to break down bigger molecules into smaller ones that they can ingest. While these microbes do a stellar job, adding external enzymes—in the form of Pure Zym—accelerates nutrient cycling and makes the fertility in your soil more readily available to your plants.

Benefits:

  • Prevents nutrient build-up;
  • Improves oxygen absorption;
  • Promotes healthier growth during the vegetative and flowering stage.

How and When to Use This Product

After shaking the bottle vigorously, dilute at a rate of 1 ml per 1 liter of feed water. Plagron PURE ZYM can be used every time you feed your crop for the entire lifecycle. Do not use with hydroponic setups. If used, flush lines immediately.

Green Sensation

Green Sensation works like a PK booster, guaranteeing improved yields but also, thanks to the quality ingredients, this product also improves the overall flower quality while increasing plant resistance and improving soil structure. Phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) form two-thirds of the NPK macronutrient triad, alongside nitrogen (N). While nitrogen forms a key part of amino acids, phosphorus, and potassium plant a key role throughout the entirety of the growing cycle.

Plagron usage guide: green sensation

Green sensation provides high amounts of phosphorus and potassium for an enhanced flowering stage while boosting soil structure.

Phosphorus fuels root growth, helps plants to deal with the abiotic stress of cooler weather, boosts water use efficiency, and helps in the formation of seeds (a key benefit for cannabis breeders). Likewise, potassium plays an important part in moving water and nutrients throughout plants via the xylem and phloem. This mineral also helps to activate enzymes involved in protein synthesis and ATP production (and cellular unit of energy within cells). Apart from the high amounts of potassium and phosphorus, this product provides the organic matter needed for maintaining good soil, thus improving soil structure and fertility.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
0 9 10

Benefits:

  • Enhances flower quality and yields;
  • Improves nutrient storage;
  • Increases plant resistance against stress.

How and When to Use This Product

Plagron GREEN SENSATION has been designed to work like a PK booster, but on steroids. This means it can be introduced into the feed schedule from the 3rd or 4th week of the flowering growth cycle. This product can be used with any cultivation method. Remember to always leave 4 to 10 days for a final flush to achieve the best possible results in terms of flavor and aroma.

Sugar Royal

Sugar Royal enhances the natural aroma and flavor of your plants by improving the natural processes your plants perform during the flowering stage, resulting in an overall better tasting and smelling harvest after curing.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
9 0  0

Benefits:

  • Enhances resin production;
  • Increases the production of terpenes and flavonoids;
  • Promotes the production of new cells.

How and When to Use This Product

Plagron SUGAR ROYAL has been designed to be used in conjunction with your basic nutrient feed schedule. As it is nitrogen-heavy (9-0-0), the best time to introduce it into your feeding protocol is around the second week of vegetative growth. As the plant transitions into the flowering growth stage, the need for nitrogen drops. Although the directions from Plagron suggest using this additive all the way up until harvest, we recommend cutting the usage around the second week of flower. Dilute to a rate of 1 ml of Sugar Royal per 1 liter of feed water. This can be used with every feed. Not suitable for hydroponic setups.

Vita Race

Vita Race is a product designed to be used as a foliar spray during the vegetative stage and the first few weeks of flowering, this fertilizer contains iron which is a vital element for chlorophyll production, stimulating photosynthesis and making your plants look healthy and bright green.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
0 5 8

Benefits:

  • Accelerates growth;
  • Increases plant resistance;
  • Stimulates photosynthesis.

How and When to Use This Product

We suggest starting out with a dilution rate of 2.5 ml per liter of water, and spraying the plants once a week from the second week of veg growth up to the third week of flowering growth. The dilution rate can be increased as the plant grows, but make sure you do not exceed 5 ml per liter of water. When spraying any foliar spray whether it be for feeding, nutrient deficiency issues, or pest and fungal control - it is highly important to cover the entire plant, especially the undersides of the leaves. You can the plant to be heavily damp without any excess dripping off.

When foliar spraying for indoor plants, make sure to apply only just before or as the lights switch off. This prevents the possibility of leaf burn from the lights and allows the plant maximum time to suck up all that foliar goodness. For outdoor cultivation, it is best to spray at dusk, just as the sun is setting.

2. Mineral Fertilizers For Soil

Now that you’ve read about the additives, it’s time to know a bit more about the base fertilizers for each substrate, remember that each one provides NPK in a unique ratio so make sure you are using the best one suited for your grow setup.

Plagron usage guide: mineral fertilizers for soil

Terra grow and terra bloom are mineral products so there's no need to introduce microorganisms in the soil.

Plagron, apart from the organic fertilizers you’ll be reading about further into the article, offers a mineral line designed for soil, these products contain a high nutrient concentration, providing everything they need for each stage of plant growth.

Terra Grow

Terra Grow is a mineral-based fertilizer designed for the vegetative stage, providing what your plants need to grow and be able to withstand the weight of the dense flowers as they develop through the flowering stage.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
3 1 4

BENEFITS:

  • Suitable for use with any watering system.
  • Perfectly tailored for soil-based cultivation.
  • Offers immediate absorption.
  • Ensures the most robust growth throughout the entire vegetative growth stage

Terra Bloom

Terra Bloom is also mineral-based but unlike Terra Grow, it’s designed for the flowering stage, providing the right amount of nutrients your plants need during the flowering stage, thus enhancing bud density and overall bud quality.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
2 2 4

 BENEFITS:

  • Can be used with any watering system.
  • Suitable for all soil-based cultivation methods.
  • Offers immediate absorption.
  • Ensures the most robust growth throughout the flowering production stage with optimal terpene and trichome production

Here’s the mineral feeding schedule for photoperiodics in soil, remember that the Terra line is a pH perfect product, meaning that it will adjust the pH of the solution but the pH and EC of tap water can vary a lot depending on where you live so it’s highly recommended you check and adjust the pH before mixing your nutrient solution.

Also, make sure you only mix the amount you’ll be using right away; Terra Grow and Terra Bloom can be stored for up to 4 days after being mixed but the pH may increase day after day so we recommend using them right away to avoid any problems.

3. Mineral Fertilizers For Coco

Plagron also offers a two-part mineral fertilizer designed for coco so if this is your preferred growing substrate, this two-part product will do wonders due to the unique NPK ratio designed specifically for coco.

Coco A + B

Coco A+B is a mineral product designed for both the vegetative and flowering stages, with a unique NPK ratio for those growing in coco fiber.

Plagron usage guide: mineral fertilizers for coco

Plagron coco A+B provides a unique NPK ratio for the best results when growing in coco.

Due to the balanced mix, this fertilizer is quite easy to use, and thanks to the specific NPK ratio for coco, allows you to get excellent results without much effort or anything extra.

Coco A
Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
4 0 1

Coco B
Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
1 4 2

Unlike the mineral fertilizers for coco, Coco A and Coco B do not regulate the pH by themselves so you should check and adjust the pH to 5.5-6.5 after mixing your nutrient solution.

Remember that these products can be stored for up to 10 days but this will depend on the hygiene of the growing room and reservoir, if you haven’t mixed any organic products in your nutrient solution it won’t spoil as fast, just make sure you check the pH before feeding and it should be good for up to 10 days.

4. Mineral Fertilizers For Hydro

Plagron products for hydro can also be used for aeroponic grow setups and also consist of two-parts, making it easier to provide what your plants need without suffering from deficiencies. Hydro A+B complement each other, providing the macro and micronutrients your plant needs from seed to harvest.

Hydro A + B

Hydro A+B is a high-concentration mineral fertilizer designed for the vegetative and flowering stage in hydroponic and aeroponic grow setups, this product provides chelated macronutrients and other micronutrients such as calcium and magnesium which combat heat stress and improve chlorophyll production, resulting in an overall healthier and deficiency-free crop.

Hydro A
Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
3 0 1

Hydro B
Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
1 3 6

As you may know, you will have to check and adjust the pH when growing in hydroponics; Hydro A and Hydro B are ph perfect but due to water having different pH and ppm values all around the world, we highly recommend checking it and adjusting it to 5.5-6.5 before mixing your nutrient solution.

 Plagron Mineral Feeding Schedule for Photoperiodics in Hydro (ml/L)

Just like the Terra line, these products can be stored for up to 4 days as long as there aren’t any organic products mixed in the nutrient solution; before mixing your nutrient solution, make sure you have a water pump to keep it circulating and that the reservoir is clean to avoid any problems.

5. Organic Fertilizers

Now for those of you that prefer growing organically, Plagron also offers a 100% organic fertilizer line suited for coco and soil, and due to being organic, will result in much better tasting and smelling flowers.

Plagron usage guide: organic fertilizers

Organic growing relies on the beneficial microorganisms in the medium so make sure you keep the substrate conditions on point!

Despite not needing to check the pH like when growing in other substrates, growing organically means that you are keeping the microorganisms in the soil alive so make sure you get the information you need to avoid future problems.

Alga Grow

Alga grow, as the name says, is a product derived from algae and designed for cultivating in soil, this product should be used during the grow stage and will enhance root and plant growth, resulting in a strong and healthy plant that is completely ready for the flowering stage.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
4 2 4

Alga Bloom

Alga Bloom is also derived from algae and for cultivating in soil but unlike Alga grow, it’s designed for the flowering stage where it will provide all the macro and micronutrients your plants need in this stage, resulting in the development of bigger, denser, and frostier flowers.

Nitrogen (N) Phosphorus (P) Potassium (K)
3 2 5

Now, Plagron organic products don’t need as much care as the mineral line. When using Alga Grow and Alga Bloom there’s no need to adjust the pH because of the living microorganisms that adjust it naturally, just make sure it’s not insanely high or low.

Plagron Organic Feeding Schedule For Photoperiodics (ml/L)

Plagron usage guide: organic fertilizers for photos

Remember that due to being organic, the nutrient solution will spoil faster than the mineral products so it’s highly recommended that you use your nutrient solution within 48hs of being mixed.

6. Plagron Feeding Schedule For Autoflowers (ml/L)

For autoflowers you want to use a lower amount, despite being organic it’s better to save a little bit of fertilizer so when following this schedule due to autoflower not eating as much as photoperiodics, you'll be starting with a lower amount and gradually increase it.

Remember that if you are growing autoflowers with any of the inorganic products mentioned before, you should start with 1/3 of the recommended amount and increase it gradually, according to how your plants develop.

Have in mind that there’s no need to adjust the pH all the time, just make sure your water purity is in an acceptable range and that’s it.

Plagron usage guide: organic fertilizers for autoflowers

As said above, due to being organic your nutrient solution may spoil so make sure you mix exactly what you need to use, the nutrient solution can be stored for up to 48hs so try to use it within 2 days of mixing it.

7. In Conclusion

Plagron offers a wide range of fertilizers suited for all grow setups available, each one with a specific NPK ratio that will allow you to get the best results either in soil, coco, hydro or aeroponics, so make sure you use the correct fertilizer line.
